PPCR seeks strategic partner for biomass CHP project

PPC Renewables S.A., a wholly owned subsidiary of Public Power Corp. S.A., has announced it is seeking

a strategic partner to develop, finance, construct and operate a biomass combined-heat-and-power (CHP)

plant in Greece.

A press release issued by PPCR indicates the proposed facility is to have a nominal capacity of 25 MWe and

45 MWth and will be located in Amyntaio, a city in the northern region of Greece.

The new CHP facility will be located near PPCR’s existing thermal power plant and will use the existing facilities

to connect to the electrical and district heating grids.

In the release, PPCR said it plans to establish a subsidiary biomass company to finance, develop and manage

the proposed biomass CHP plant. The partner it is seeking would acquire a majority stake in this new subsidiary;

finance the proposed biomass CHP project; design, contract, oversee construction and installation, operate, and

maintain the facility; and secure, procure and manage the plant’s biomass fuel supply. PPCR also said it expects to

enter into an agreement with the biomass subsidiary for the procurement of a portion of the biomass fuel.

PPCR estimates that the proposed facility will consume at least 225,000 metric tons of biomass annually.
